Check Valves

Linder is the official authorised distributor for WEY valves and MATICA valves. Industrial check valves are the critical guardians of your flow lines: they guarantee one-way flow and prevent damaging reverse flow. A dependable check valve is a direct investment in plant integrity and uninterrupted efficiency.

What Does a Check Valve Do?

A check valve passes flow in one direction only and closes by itself against the reverse. It takes no external command — the medium itself operates it. That is why it keeps doing its job during a power cut, when a pump stops, or when the control system is out of service.

What it protects is usually far more expensive than the valve itself:

  • Pumps: reverse rotation and impeller damage on shutdown.
  • Compressors: back-discharge of compressed air.
  • Boilers and feed lines: contamination and back pressure.
  • The line itself: the pressure surge at pump trip (water hammer).

Type Selection: Closing Speed Is the Deciding Factor

The real issue in check valve selection is not tightness but how quickly it closes. A slow-closing check valve slams shut after the flow has already reversed and generates a pressure surge in the line.

Swing Type

A hinged disc opens with the flow and closes under its own weight. Pressure loss is low and tolerance to dirty media is good; it suits horizontal lines with gradual velocity changes. On rapidly stopping pumps it can close too late.

Spring-Loaded / Disc Type

A spring closes the disc the moment flow ceases. Closure is very fast, which reduces water hammer risk, and the compact body helps in tight installations; the spring does add pressure loss.

Vertical and Special Designs

Body geometry changes for vertical lines, high-viscosity media and solids-laden service. In these applications the type must be chosen against flow velocity and installation orientation.

WEY and MATICA Series in Our Catalogue

Every series below is supplied directly through Linder as the official authorised distributor.

  • MATICA UV300 / UV400 — check valve series for industrial water and process lines.
  • WEY RSK — a WEY check valve engineered for demanding conditions.
  • WEY TK01 — a WEY valve series targeting special process requirements.

Installation Points

  • Flow direction: never install without checking the arrow on the body — a reversed check valve blocks the line completely.
  • Clearance: mounting immediately after a pump discharge or an elbow causes disc flutter and premature wear through turbulence.
  • Orientation: not every check valve works in every position; horizontal and vertical suitability must be confirmed from manufacturer data.

Support for the Right Selection

As the official authorised distributor for WEY and MATICA valves, we will define the right type and series with you — share your medium, diameter, operating pressure, flow velocity and pump trip characteristics.
