Linder

Bellows-Sealed Valves

Linder is the official authorised distributor for MATICA valves. Bellows sealed valves permanently isolate the packing area from the medium, delivering complete external tightness. By eliminating leakage they prevent equipment damage and environmental harm, and they require no routine maintenance or inspection.

LINDER, as an official dealer of MATICA, presents the CV300 bellows seal shut-off valve — the definitive solution for critical isolation. Engineered with a patented double-layer…

What Problem Does a Bellows Seal Solve?

In a conventional valve the stem passes through the body, and that crossing is sealed with packing. Packing is a rubbing component: every operation wears it a little further. It has to be tightened over time and eventually replaced — and between two maintenance visits there is always a risk of leakage.

A bellows sealed valve removes that crossing altogether. A metal bellows surrounding the stem contains the medium inside the body and absorbs stem movement by flexing. With no rubbing sealing face, there is nothing to wear out.

Where Is It Required?

  • Thermal fluid (hot oil) systems: packing life is short at high temperature, and a leak is a fire risk.
  • Toxic and hazardous chemicals: even the smallest leak is a safety and environmental compliance issue.
  • Vacuum lines: air drawn in through the packing disrupts the process.
  • Plants with fugitive emission limits: operations working to measurable emission targets.
  • Hard-to-reach points: installations where maintenance is expensive or dangerous.

MATICA CV300 Series Bellows Sealed Valves

Supplied directly as the official authorised distributor, the MATICA CV300 series applies the bellows seal principle to industrial process lines. While the bellows provides full external tightness, a secondary packing is normally retained as a back-up safety layer: should the bellows reach the end of its life, the line is not suddenly left open.

Total Cost of Ownership

The initial price of a bellows sealed valve is higher than an equivalent standard valve. Compared on purchase price alone it looks expensive; what belongs in the calculation is this:

ItemStandard valveBellows sealed valve
Packing maintenancePeriodic tightening and replacementNone
Leakage riskDepends on maintenance intervalNone over bellows life
Downtime requirementLine stopped for maintenanceNone outside planned shutdowns
Product/energy lossAs much as leaksNone

On lines carrying critical media or in locations that are hard to access, that difference closes the gap in initial investment quickly.

Selection and Installation Notes

A bellows is designed for a finite number of cycles; on frequently operated lines the expected life must be confirmed from manufacturer data. And because the bellows is sized for axial movement, installation must not transmit pipe stress into the valve body.
